Woman Killed in Manhattan Hit-and-Run Accident

Crossing the street anywhere in the city is an activity that involves some sort of risk.  However, when pedestrians cross they should be able to trust that motorists will obey the laws that govern these situations.  Unfortunately, that apparently did not occur early yesterday morning when a woman who was attempting to cross a street was hit and killed in a Manhattan hit-and-run accident.  To make matters worse, the driver fled the scene and police are still searching for this person.

According to the authorities, this Manhattan hit-and-run accident occurred yesterday morning at approximately 1:30 a.m.  An unidentified 21-year-old woman was attempting to cross the street on Broadway near East 14th Street not far from Union Square.  As she did so, she was hit by the driver of a blue blue dump truck that was attempting to make a right turn at that intersection.  She was completely run over and she was rushed to a nearby hospital, but she did not survive her injuries.
