Two Killed, Two Injured in Staten Island Car Accident When SUV Hits Ambulance

Nearly anyone who gets behind the wheel of a vehicle understands that doing so involves taking on some element of risk involving other motorists and the possibility that someone else on the road will make a mistake.  However, people driving and riding in ambulances may feel that they are more noticed than other vehicles on the road and therefore perhaps a bit safer.  Tragically, that turned out to be untrue last night as an ambulance was hit in a head-on fashion by another driver in a Staten Island car accident.  Two people were killed and two others were injured in this crash that police continue to investigate.

According to the authorities, this Staten Island car accident occurred last night at just after 7 p.m.  A private ambulance was driving down Hylan Boulevard at that time and as it neared the intersection with Seacrest Avenue, it was hit violently and directly head-on by the driver of a BMW SUV who allegedly crossed the median.  The crash killed the driver of the BMW and the 58-year-old driver of the ambulance, and two other people were seriously injured in the crash.
