Snowy Conditions Blamed for Car Accident That Takes Life of Pedestrian

Everyone in the area got a direct reminder of how difficult it can be to get around when a blizzard hits car-accident-nyover the past few days, and anyone who left their homes encountered extremely challenging driving conditions.  As such, there was a lot of danger involved for anyone who ventured out, and tragically the snowy weather was at least partially to blame for a fatal Poughkeepsie pedestrian accident that occurred on Friday.  A 74-year-old man was killed when a driver lost control of her vehicle and hit him.

According to the authorities, this fatal Poughkeepsie pedestrian accident occurred on Friday at approximately 12:30 p.m.  An unidentified 74-year-old man was walking near the shoulder of East Cedar Street when an unidentified 18-year-old female lost control of her vehicle and crashed into him.  The man was badly injured and he was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive.  The driver claimed to have lost control of the vehicle due to the weather conditions.  Police are still investigating the crash.
