Man Standing on Curb Killed in Suspected Queens DUI Accident

Most people tend to believe that while traffic tends to be relatively light during the early morning hours, the danger factor is still present because of the increased possibility of impaired motorists being on the road.  However, few if any people would ever consider themselves to be at risk while standing on a corner waiting to cross the street regardless of the time of day.  Unfortunately, a man standing on a curb over the weekend was hit and killed in a suspected Queens DUI accident, and the driver involved in the crash was subsequently arrested.

According to the authorities, this suspected Queens DUI accident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. yesterday morning.  An unidentified 24-year-old man was standing on the corner of 46th Street and Greenpoint Avenue in Sunnyside when the driver of a livery cab that was passing by lost control of his vehicle, hit the man and then continued on to crash into several parked cars.  The man was killed as a result of the collision, and the driver of the livery cab was arrested on suspicion of criminally negligent homicide and drunk driving.
